Hey I'm Alex and I'm from New York city, yep the big apple! So yeah no big outdoorsy stuff there except for sailing which I love to do. I always wanted to work with animals since I was five years old so it's obvious that my major is Wildlife. I'm pretty much eclectic to everything so i'm not opposed to practically anything.
This is my second semester in Unity and I must say I like it here. After high school I decided to take a semester off before attending college. During that time I did a lot and visited many places, my 18th birthday was spent on a 40 year old sailboat that I sailed for about a week in, that was pretty cool. I wasn't here for open house so I came to this school blindly, unaware of how this school works or how Maine even looks like. Now I am in love with this state, I even got the chance to go snowboarding which I now love doing. So yeah that's me, It's hard to write about yourself but I think I put out enough info to kind of explain myself lol I'm better verbal.

This is Molly
Hi! My name is Molly McCarthy. I am a sophomore here and am majoring in Aquaculture & Fisheries. I grew up in Middlefield, Massachusetts. Its nestled right on the edge of the Berkshires. I have worked the past four summers at Jacobs Pillow Dance Festival in Lee, Massachusetts as a prep cook and cateror. I really enjoyed catering, like making epic cakes and platters, but I probably would not go back there again. Back home, I am also an instructor of Tae Kwan Do. I have been doing it for about 10 years and got my black belt after 8. I am currently a third stage, first degree black belt. I love teaching kids, and hope to possibly open my own school someday down the road.
Some of my hobbies include fishing, running, hiking, hunting, and photographing. I have recently gotten into hunting and photography, but I really enjoy both.
When I graduate, I hope to get a job in a hatchery or microbiological lab that specializes in Atlantic salmon. I worked with Atlantic salmon for 6 months during my senior year of high school and I really enjoyed it.

Hi Fellow Hunters
Hi, my name is Ben. I go to Unity College in Maine. I'm majoring in Conservation Law Enforcement. I love hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. My favorite seasons are fall and winter. I bought a new rifle a couple years back. Its a browning a-bolt 30-06. I love the gun, it rips whitetails apart.
Me
Hello everyone. My name is Alison Zukas and this is my second year at Unity College. I grew up in Middletown, CT and heard about Unity through a Vocational Agriculture program at my school. I never planned on going to college, but didn't know what else to do with my life, so here I am.
I've just about always loved the outdoors and enjoy many hobbies, a few of which include reading, hiking, unicycling, and spending time with my animals back at home. People often mistake me as a strange and uncaring individual, but don't be fooled by my non-expressive exterior. I consider myself to be a stoic and mostly un-opinionated person. Outwardly, I am very shy and untalkative, but I open up occasionally if you try to get to know me.
Ah, but anyway, I am currently majoring in Wildlife and Ecology, which seems to be going well enough so far. My only plan is to just continue "going with the flow" and see where life takes me. I think I look forward to it.

"All About Me"
Hello!
My name is Amanda Nelson and I am twenty years old. I am from Windsor, Virginia...and yes I'm from the south...and yes the north and south are very different! I decided to go to Unity College in the lovely state of Maine because I want to help make a difference in the world. I am currently a first semester junior. I plan to major in Wildlife Conservation and Ecology in may 2011. I am currently a Resident Advisor in Cainchette Gold which is an upper-class man residence hall. I also work off campus at Rite-Aid Pharmacy and complete work-study hours with Advisor/professor Aimee Phillippi. I do get really stressed at times but I try and remember that... "If you keep doing what your doing, you'll keep get getting what you've got," and I push on. I have always been inspired by people that care for wildlife and every since I was a little girl I have wanted to have a career in wildlife. I don't know what it is about animals but I have always been more willing to work with animals than people. I'm an extremely open person about my opinion on almost everything...which can be good or bad. Many of my hobbies and interests include playing tennis and Ultimate Frisbee, when its not snowing. I want to learn how to snowboard, fish, hunt, and snowmobile...hopefully before I graduate I can do them all. Also as my way of escape from the world I read, paint paint-by-numbers, and clean. I know that my hobbies are weird things to do to distress but it works for me.

Hello fellow americanas
Hello,
My name is Tyler. I am currently a sophomore and my major is Conservation Law Enforcement. I am from Rowley, MA and proud of it. That is right I am a "Mass hole". But I like to fish and play sports. Pretty much I like to be outside. In the winter I ski and just started snowboarding too. Also I like to snowmobile in the winter, it's sick. This summer I just got a 12 gauge shotgun, so I will attempt to hunt, I guess.

Justin Murdock
Hello I'm Justin Murdock. I am a freshman at Unity College and my Major is marine biology. I'm from Inlet ,NY a small town in the middle of the Adirondacks. I was drawn to Unity because of their active outdoor teaching method and small class size.
Hi, I'm Ashley.
My name is Ashley Van Riper. If you mispronounced my name, that's ok. It happens all the time. Just remember Riper rhymes with Viper, like the snake or car. I am from Mansfield, OH. If you don't know where that is, it's about an hour and a half from Cleveland (home of the tribe!!). I decided to come to the beautiful state of Maine because my mother is from here and we took vacations up here every summer. I've been in love ever since. Maine is like a completely different world compared to where I'm from. I'm so used to lots of buildings and busy streets, then I come here and it's nothing but trees and gorgeous landscapes. It's definitely a breath of fresh air...to say the least.
I am a Sophmore this year and my major is Marine Biology. Please don't ask me what I want to do with that, because I'm really not sure just yet.
In my spare time I love photography and I love art in general, but mostly drawing. I have a couple of sketchbooks actually. Art is just a way that I can express myself without judgement. I also like to play softball and I joined Rugby last year and, suprisingly, really like it. I am also the President of the Marine Biology club as of this week, so I'm really excited to get that going. I am also really excited about this class. I think the whole concept is really interesting and most definitely different. I think it's going to go pretty well.
Well, that's me. =)

"The Phoebanator"
Hey,
My name is Phoebe Nichols, and some of my friends have dubbed me "The Phoebanator" in jest. I live in Somerville, ME, but tend to travel a lot when I am not in school. I grew up in Connecticut and was not aware of any environmental issues until I moved to Maine and decided to become and undercover game warden.
Unfortunently, I did not enjoy the major as much as I had hoped and I am now a wildlife major. I enjoy hunting, making jewlery, reading, and other outdoor activities. Myself and several other members of the college community have activily pursued and still are pursuing the philosophy of Restorative Justice and have introduced it to the college community as an alternative to the current "punishment system".
I am really looking forward to this class as I am excited to learn how to communicate to the public about the environment. I beleive that as a pilot class it will suceed and be very helpful to those majoring in an environment related career.

From New England to Michigan and Back Again.
Good evening.
My name is Valerie, but feel free to call me Val if you desire. I am a transfer student from Northwestern Michigan College which is located in the heart of Traverse City, Michigan. It gets cold up there much like here in Unity! However, it should be noted that I only lived in Michigan for fourteen months. Last March I returned to my homestate of Massachusetts, and I currently reside in a town called Chelmsford.
My major is Environmental Writing, and I am considering a minor in Zoology or Wildlife. Incorporating my two passions (writing and animals) as one is what makes up the whole of me, and thus is the primary contributor to why I decided to enroll at Unity College. In addition, I was drawn to the unique styles of teaching which occur at this college and the warm sense of community.
In my free time, I enjoy writing, painting, observing wildlife, taking long walks and socializing. Currently I am making an effort to participate in campus activities to form friendships and to keep me away from technology -- I need a break from it!
